3113 Online

We will conduct much of our class business via three online venues.

·   Professor Reisner’s web site, www.nreisner.com. Most likely, you’ve already been there because that’s probably how you got to this document.

·   A Web Log or "blog” where you’ll find assignments, articles of interest and other items. There is a link to the blog on the class web page.

·   A listserv, or Internet mailing list, JOU3113@fiu.edu. A listserv provides an easy way to exchange information via e-mail. Any mail sent to the class listserv wiill go to Professor Reisner and all students in the class.

Use the list to ask questions about class or assignments, to seek assistance if you run into trouble on any technique, to help out your fellow students; use it to continue the conversations we will have in class.

Be careful; it's perfectly possible to send messages to the entire list that you really only want to go to one person. To reply to the entire list -- what you should do to participate in a conversation about an assignment, issue or general topic -- click on "Reply to All." To reply privately, click on "Reply."

It's a good idea to make sure that the listserv addressed is listed in your FIU e-mail "white list." This will prevent the univesity's junk mail filter from putting class messages into your junk mail folder.

To do this, log in to your account at webmail.fiu.edu. Click on "Options" and then on "Junk Mail Control." The page should open to "White List Control." If it doesn't, click on the link that will open it. Type jou3113@fiu.edu into the indicated box, then click on "Add" to put it on your whitelist.
